In a sea of ?typical? cars with LSX swaps, this is definitely one that stands out as unique. We discovered this exceptional 1937 Ford Coupe on Yellow Bullet ? it?s a work-in-progress with a twin-turbo LSX fitted right into the middle of its chassis thanks to a Ford GT transaxle.
The car is being built by the pros at Eddie?s Chop Shop, in Orangevale, California. These guys have put together some pretty amazing and unique rods in the past, so a build of this nature is like second nature to them, and in the thread on Yellow Bullet, Eddie says that the idea behind this build is to create a supercar/Hot Rod. The ?37 rides on a C5 Corvette suspension bolted to a full tube chassis. As you can imagine it took quite a bit to mate the LSX to the GT?s transaxle, as well as figuring out a million details to get it all to work correctly. Eddie says that he used the shifter and cables out of a Porsche and modified them to work with the GT transaxle.
Eddie has also taken quite a bit of heat from hardcore Ford fans about putting a GM engine in his classic Ford, but in true hot rodder spirit he just brushes them off. In the build thread he says, ?With the power I am going to be making out of this size motor the LSX was the safest platform to do it. I just took a lot of [crap] over lunch about this from a friend of mine. He has a blown boss 429 sitting on a stand ready to go in his hotrod. I offered as a favor to him I would be willing to put it in the ?37 if it made him feel better? He didn?t go for it.?
