Addressing Common Fears #6 - Connecticut Foster Care & Adoption

Posted on: February 7th, 2012

Fear #6 ? ?What if it gets too hard and there are situations that I can?t deal with on my own??

As a therapeutic parent, you have a team of people at your disposal:
?CRI?s Behaviorist offers additional in-home support for families with children in behavioral crisis. He/she will develop and implement behavior plans for children and provide behavior training for foster families. He/she will also complete school observations and work with school staff on appropriate behavioral interventions in the school setting.
CRI?s Registered Nurse is involved with our medically complex children. He/she visits these children quarterly and goes to their specialist medical appointments with the foster families. He/she also sees all of our foster children upon their admission into our program.
Emergency On-Call System There is always a CRI Social Worker or Social Work Supervisor available to you in case of emergency, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The on-call responsibilities rotate between your social worker and his/her colleagues, who all meet weekly to discuss the children on their caseloads so that he gets to know each child and can be of constructive help to families with emergencies.
Medication Management CRI has an APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) who is available for psychiatric medication management for our children. His/Her services are especially useful to new families who do not yet have a doctor or psychiatrist in their own area. She has office hours at our Southington Office and in Rocky Hill.?
