John Lasseter Talks Upcoming Pixar Projects

While we wait for Pixar's Brave to hit theaters on June 18, website Bleeding Cool wants us to set our sights on the future. They teased a few details from the animation giant's head honcho John Lasseter, who chatted about his alternate reality tale The Good Dinosaur and a still untitled project from director Pete Docter of Monsters, Inc. and Up fame.?

"What if the meteor that killed off the dinosaurs missed Earth and dinosaurs kept living?" Lasseter posed. "It?s really a great story because they are very funny dinosaurs. They are kind of cartoony but they are dinosaurs, they are not walking around with clothes on or anything like that, they still are kind of dinosaurs."

?

In what sounds like an eco-friendly angle on the dino universe, Lasseter shared that his creatures prefer veggies to beef. "We focused on mostly the plant-eaters, not the carnivores? Their society becomes more of an agrarian society, meaning farmers. They become farmers."

?

The plot centers on a young dinosaur who doesn't fit in with his peers and sets off on a personal quest where he meets another outcast. "? It becomes this unique kind of story? kind of hard to describe. It?s a very special, very emotional story but it?s so quirky and nutty," the filmmaker said, reassuring that the project would be a completely atypical story about the prehistoric beasts.

?

With regards to the subsequent feature Docter is working out, Lasseter had this to say:

?

"His idea is that the emotions of this little girl are the characters and it takes place in the head of this little girl, and shows how they control things that go on. It?s very, very clever and it?s truly unlike anything you?ve ever seen, yet it explains things you?ve seen."

?

Look for The Good Dinosaur in theaters on May 30, 2014 and Docter's film in 2015. Does it sound like more great Pixar is on tap?
