In customary form Wyoming has given a coach that guided his team to the postseason a contract extension. The school announced yesterday that Coach Larry Shyatt had an extra year added to his original five year contract that he signed last year. Financial terms are staying exactly the same: base salary of $190,000 with incentives bringing it up to $645,000.

Coach Schroyer got a similar extension back when he led the Pokes to the CBI in his first year. I have no problem with giving Shyatt an extension and certaily expect his tenure to go differently then Schroyer. Shyatt has stated that this is his last coaching stop and that he wants to be at Wyoming for a long time. The fact that his salary wasn't increased at a time when the department is making budget cuts is also a good thing.

There is also plenty of of more information on the Cowboys summer schedule and info on the Leonard Washington situation. All of that is after the jump.

Star-divide

Wyoming is heading to Calgary in August for four games. The schedule was announced this week, now you can start booking your flights to the Great White North. The University of Calgary is hosting the tournament and their mascot is the Dinos. They have a scary looking Raptor as their mascot.

The schedule for Wyoming is as follows:

Tuesday, Aug. 7
6 p.m. Calgary vs. Wyoming

Wednesday, Aug. 8
7 p.m. Mount Royal vs. Wyoming

Friday, Aug. 10
8:15 p.m. Calgary vs. Wyoming

Saturday, Aug. 11
10:30 a.m. Alberta vs. Wyoming

Apparently this is the first year that Mount Royal has had an official team. It will be interesting to see what type of competition these Canadian schools provide.

Montana State is also going to be at the tournament but they won't face the Cowboys. I believe Wyoming can only play international teams as part of this trip. The Cowboys will also get the benefit of 10 team practices this summer as they prepare for the trip. That will be a great help as so many new players work to gel with the veterans.

Some more details on the events leading up to the arrest of Leonard Washington were released. Seems a stolen laptop is what started everything. Check out the article from the Tribune-Eagle with more details on the incident.

According to Poke Pride SG Shakir Smith was fined $290.00 for his arrest as part of this incdent. Washington is still suspended but Smith remains an active member of the team.
