Darton State College partnered with the Phoebe Cancer Center, Southwest Public Health District, Cancer Coalition of South Georgia, American Cancer Society, and 100 Black Men of Albany to hold a luncheon Friday raising awareness for colorectal cancer.
March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and these organizations wanted to kick off that month by inviting the community to learn about this disease and be screened for it while they?re there.
Drs. Chirag Jani and Troy Kimsey attended the luncheon and spoke about prevention, detection, screening, and treatment.? Dr. Kimsey said people don?t realize how important early detection is and having events like this helps spread the word.
